I liked how this bag turned out so well that I decided I was gonna try and make a diaper bag for my sister. I used the same concept and measurements I used for the tote bag, and added a bunch of pockets and such to help Megan organize all of Maci's things. I love it!!
I wanted to use a fabric that was girlie, but not baby-ish. Mama's can be stylish too! :o) Plus, Meg's favorite color is green!
Another great thing about this bag, is that it gave me the opportunity to try my hand at creating zippered pockets. I'm obsessed with the idea that any really useful bag has to have a zippered pocket on the front. Not all of my purses do, but prefer purses that have them. Keeps me from digging around for my keys or cell phone.
I used this tutorial I found over at Sew, Mama, Sew!
I added elastic pockets on both sides of the bag to hold baby bottles and such.
I lined the inside with this great yellow with pink polka dots fabric. I seriously love this stuff. Anyone who knows me knows how much I love polka dots!
And, of course, there's lots of pockets on the inside too, including another zippered pouch as well as a slip pocket.
Stuffed with stuff for Maci! Including a travel changing pad, burp cloths, bibs, a wet bag, and a ribbon tag toy. All made by Auntie Jenny :o)
Here she is all packed up and ready for use -
The only thing I'm still thinking about doing is creating some pins for the front of the bag. I think it looks a little plain.
I'm probably going to make one of these -
