I've been working long and hard on lots of baby projects and I finally feel like I'm coming to the end of this long journey! Don't get me wrong. I love crafting. I love sewing. I love babies. But boy would it be nice to be able to work on some non-baby-related projects! Halloween is just around the corner and I had big plans! Until I everyone I knew got pregnant and now all my energy is focused there.
Anywho. Enough whining from me. Let me show you the cute burp cloths I whipped up!
Such pretty fabrics! ♥:o)
Here's what it looks like opened up.
The back is terry cloth. Don't you just love the cupcake fabric??
I made six of these in less then an hour. Three for Sister and three for Sister-in-Law. Then I rolled them up, and tied them together in sets of three, wrapped in some ribbon.
This project is super simple! Perfect for a quick and cute baby gift. No need to be an expert sewer to do this!
I just cut out some rectangles from my fabric and terry cloth. You do this in whatever size you want. I cut mine to be 11x21. I wanted them to be big enough to cover the shoulder well. No one likes spit up on their clothes!
Then, I laid my fabric and terry cloth right sides together and pinned. I sewed around the edges leaving about 1/4 inch seam allowance, and leaving a 5 inch opening on one side of the burp cloth. I pulled the fabric right side out and ironed it flat.
Lastly, I sewed around the edge of the burp cloth to close the opening and secure the fabric together.
Presto! Burp cloths!
So next time you're invited to a baby shower, consider making some of these instead of running to the store. I mean, you can never have enough burp cloths, right?

So cute! Love making hand made gifts for showers.. I'll have to add this one to my go-to list! :)
Super cute fabric. I do the same thing. These are easy and quick to make for myself and as gifts. I try to keep a stock of girl prints and boy prints to give as gifts when needed. I like the finer terry cloth on one side and flannel on the other. Thanks for sharing. Saw you on Skip to My Lou.

ADORABLE! And I have some baby showers coming up, I just might have to try my hand at these.
the fabric is just precious! totally makes them special! Who would want to get spit up on them though! haha! Thanks for sharing!
Love these. Quick question. Do you sew all the way around the outside of the cloth once it's turned right side out, or just the spot you left open?
i sewed all the way around the outside. i think it looks nice that way and it also helps keep the fabric from shifting in a weird way when it's washed.
Found you thru TT&J! Love these!! And I love you fabric choices!
LOVE the fabric, especially the flowered fabric. These look nice and thick, an absolute must. Thanks for sharing!
