Here Comes the (Homemade) Bride!

Wow! It's been a while since I've posted anything new. I apologize. Things got crazy with the holidays as I'm sure you all know. But, it's a new year and it's time for a new start! I'll try and be better about my blogging now that things are settling down.

So, to start off the new year, let me tell you about my big news! As I'm sure you can guess from the title of this blog, I'm getting married!! My wonderful boyfriend (now fiance . . . I like the sound of that!) proposed on Christmas Eve! It was even in a "homemade" way!

FH (future husband) has a friend S who is really into baking cakes. She constantly practices to perfect her recipe, technique, etc. She even makes her own butter-cream frosting! Well FH and I have been hearing about this delicious delectables for a while, but have never actually gotten to try one. So for Christmas, he asked her to make us a cake. Little did I know what kind of cake it would be!

So after a long day at work on Dec 24th (I work retail, so you can probably imagine how crazy my day was), I come home to FH telling me, "Hey! Go look at the cake S made for us!" So I walk over to the table and look down to find this -

Talk about a surprise!! And inserted in the top of the cake, underneath the word "me" was my beautiful ring!

Needless to say, it was a FANTASTIC Christmas surprise! :o)

So now the wedding planning begins. While the big day isn't until 2011, I've already started putting plans in motion, and you can bet that there will be plenty of homemade tips and tricks to share along the way!
